Here's a simple edit with some jibber-jabber. I'm not sure how well this integrates with MS Word or other already-existing documents. Here's a test.
FY 2009-2010:
This year, CVC will focus on the following 10 Pilot Projects, Statewide Services, Infrastructure Services, and Professional Development objectives:
Pilot Projects
1. Lead the development, deployment, and institutionalization of the California Accelerated Pathways (CAP) Program. We will provide leadership, brokering services, data transfer, reporting services, technical support, course library, fiscal and staff support for this program. Based on early enrollment data, we are projecting 945 enrollments in nine classes for summer 2009 and over 1900 enrollments in those same courses for Fall 2009. Due to the national economic downturn, community college enrollments have increased across the state, and colleges have been hesitant to adopt this new program. We will investigate new pilot campuses this year (with a potential interest at College of the Siskiyous), but may stay with a single college until the economic environment enables growth at other campuses..
2. Continue ePortfolio California pilot program at 25 California Community Colleges and other K-20 educational institutions. The pilot will use the eFolio and Epsilen applications for production ePortfolios, and will also beta test Mahara and other ePortfolio tools. There will be at least 17 campuses piloting the eFolio application, and 8 piloting Epsilen, with a total of 7,000 ePortfolio accounts created this year. The goal of the pilot is to evaluate the potential benefits of ePortfolios and the requirements for a statewide ePortfolio service for California K-20 institutions.
Beginning this year, there are 22 campuses committed to participate in the pilot with at least 200 students per campus. These institutions include K12 schools, Community Colleges, California State Universities, and a University of California Campus. Several campuses have larger deployments, and several are long-standing users of ePortfolios, while others are beginning to use the tool. The pilot program includes a hosted application and the following services: an all-day face-to-face workshop, ongoing online workshops, an online community of practice, an on-call help desk, and evaluation support.
In addition to these teaching and learning goals, this program is investigating the technical requirements to create standards permitting the transfer of ePortfolios between applications, in the case that a student wishes to take his/her ePortfolio into another system, for example, if they were to transfer from a Community College to a California State University. The project will also continue the development of a business model that will support a solution for the entire state of California.
To provide evaluation services and promote the findings of the project, the program will continue a contract with a researcher at the Stanford University School of Education, who is supervised by the Chief Technology Officer, Paul Kim. This contract includes the publishing of four articles annually, and monthly evaluation reports. These reports will be used to improve project services and also shared with pilots to enable self-assessment of the project.
